Shania Twain is a Canadian singer and songwriter who rose to fame in the 1990s with her unique blend of country, pop, and rock music. Born Eilleen Regina Edwards on August 28, 1965, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, she grew up in the small town of Timmins. Her parents divorced when she was young, and her mother raised her and her two sisters alone.

Twain developed an interest in music at an early age and began performing in local bars and clubs as a teenager. In 1987, she changed her name to Shania Twain (which means "I'm on my way" in Ojibwe) and released her self-titled debut album in 1993. However, it wasn't until the release of her second album, "The Woman in Me," in 1995 that Twain achieved mainstream success.

"The Woman in Me" featured several hit singles, including "Any Man of Mine," "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" and "(If You're Not In It for Love) I'm Outta Here!" The album went on to sell over 20 million copies worldwide and won a Grammy Award for Best Country Album.

Twain's third album, "Come On Over," was released in 1997 and became one of the best-selling albums of all time. It featured smash hits like "You're Still the One," "From This Moment On," and "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" The album sold over 40 million copies worldwide and won four Grammy Awards.

Despite her massive success, Twain faced personal challenges during this time. In 2001, she announced that she was suffering from Lyme disease, which affected her vocal cords and forced her to take a hiatus from music for several years.

In 2004, Twain returned with her fourth studio album, "Up!," which continued her streak of chart-topping hits. The album featured singles like "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" and "Forever and For Always" and sold over five million copies in the United States alone.

Twain's most recent album is 2017's "Now," which features songs that reflect on some of the difficult times she has faced over the past few years. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Country Albums chart.

In addition to her successful music career, Twain has also acted as a judge on several reality TV shows such as American Idol and The Voice. She has also published an autobiography titled "From This Moment On" which details her rise to fame as well as personal struggles such as childhood poverty and domestic abuse.

Overall, Shania Twain's unique blend of country-pop-rock music has captured audiences around the world for decades. With numerous awards under her belt including five Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it is clear that she will continue to be a beloved figure in the world of music for years to come.
