Faith Evans Special

LadyM 2023/02/24

She is a three time platinum certified R&B artist. Known as a window of “The Notorious B.I.G.” and first lady of “Bad Boy Records”.
I used to be in the club back in the day, so I just loved her music ( and Notorious B.I.G) a lot.

Faith Evans, real name is Faith Renee Evans was born June 10, 1973, in Lakeland, Florida.
When Evans was 14, she sang in a touring gospel group “The Spiritual Uplifters” and performed in New York, Philadelphia and Connecticut.
In 1992, She was singing background vocals on demo tapes for R&B artists including Al B Sure and Christopher Williams. This got her noticed by Sean ""Puffy"" Combs, who had a label “Bad Boy Records” in 1993.?And Faith Evans started co-write lyrics for Mary J. Blige, and songs for Usher's self-titled debut album.
In 1994, she became the first female artist to get signed by Bad Boy Records.Right after that Faith Evans met Christopher Wallace, aka the Notorious B.I.G, at a photo shoot for Bad Boy Records and within just eight days of knowing each other, they were married.I just thought this was crazy but it mean to be I guess.

In 1995, Faith Evans released her debut solo album, “Faith”. And she had written every song on the album except “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” (a cover of Rose Royce). Then she sold more than one million copies in the US alone and be certified platinum by the RIAA.

Faith Evans produce a tribute song ""I'll Be Missing You with Puff Daddy featuring 112” which used the melody from the Police's song ""Every Breath You Take."" and released in 1997. This song is in memory of fellow “The Notorious B.I.G.”.
""I'll Be Missing You"" reached number one in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Austria, Denmark, Flanders, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
And in 1998, they won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

In 1998, Her second album “Keep the Faith”, came out and was certified platinum the following year. Single song ”Love Like This"" was built around a sampled loop from the disco band Chic and won a Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Performance.

Her studio albums are Faith (1995), Keep the Faith (1998), Faithfully (2001), The First Lady (2005), A Faithful Christmas (2005), Something About Faith (2010), and Incomparable (2014). Her hit feature songs include “One More Chance” by Notorious B.I.G. in 1995, “Heartbreak Hotel” by Whitney Houston in 1998, and “Georgy Porgy” by Eric Benet in 1999.

I had chance to see her live show once in Osaka, Japan. She is exactly my generation so I know many her songs. Her voice reminds me lots of memories!!

In addition to performances, lectures, and stage performances in various places, we have been teaching and training musicians from amateur to major artists, working with major record companies, and producing music.

Currently, we are also teaching vocal lessons from the United States to students living in Japan and the United States using Skype through the Internet.

When returning to Japan temporarily, we receive requests for several return performances in various locations, and in recent years, lectures as well.
