Heart is a rock band formed in Seattle, Washington in the early 1970s. It consists of sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson as the main members. The band has achieved great success throughout their career, selling over 35 million records worldwide.
Ann Wilson was born on June 19th, 1950, and Nancy Wilson was born on March 16th, 1954. Their father was a Marine Corps sergeant who moved the family around frequently during their childhood. As a result, they were exposed to many different styles of music at a young age.
The sisters began playing music together in high school, with Ann singing and Nancy playing guitar. They formed their first band together in the mid-1960s called The Viewpoints. After several lineup changes and name changes, they settled on the name Heart in the early 1970s.
Heart's debut album, Dreamboat Annie, was released in 1976 and included hits like "Magic Man" and "Crazy On You". The album quickly went platinum and established Heart as one of the leading bands of the era. Over the next few years, Heart continued to release successful albums such as Little Queen (1977) and Bebe le Strange (1980).
In addition to their commercial success, Heart also gained critical acclaim for their musicianship and songwriting abilities. Ann's powerful vocals became a trademark of the band's sound, while Nancy's guitar work added depth and complexity to their songs.
Throughout their career, Heart has gone through numerous lineup changes but has always maintained its core members: Ann and Nancy Wilson. Some of their most popular songs include "Barracuda", "Alone", "What About Love", and "These Dreams".
Despite experiencing some setbacks in the late 1980s due to changing musical tastes, Heart continued to tour and release new music throughout the following decades. In 2013, Heart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, cementing their legacy as one of the most important bands in rock history. Today, Ann and Nancy Wilson continue to perform together and inspire new generations of musicians with their music.
