Evanescence Special

Evanescence is an American rock band founded in 1995 by singer and pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. The band has undergone several line-up changes over the years, but Lee has remained the primary creative force behind their music. The group's sound is characterized by a blend of gothic and symphonic elements, with heavy use of piano and haunting vocals.

Evanescence gained widespread attention with the release of their debut album, "Fallen," in 2003. The album featured hit songs such as "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal," which helped propel the band to international fame. "Fallen" has sold over 17 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of the 2000s.

The success of "Fallen" led to extensive touring for Evanescence, including headlining slots on major festivals such as Ozzfest and Download. However, tensions between Lee and Moody eventually boiled over during a European tour in 2003, leading to Moody's departure from the band. Despite this setback, Evanescence continued to record and tour with various line-ups throughout the 2000s.

Evanescence released their second album, "The Open Door," in 2006. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, making them the first female-fronted band to have two consecutive number-one albums since Heart in the mid-1980s. "The Open Door" featured hit singles like "Call Me When You're Sober" and "Lithium."

In addition to their studio recordings, Evanescence has also released several live albums and DVDs showcasing their dynamic stage presence. They are known for their powerful performances that often feature Lee's mesmerizing vocals backed by a full orchestra.

After a hiatus lasting several years, Evanescence returned with a new album in 2011 entitled simply "Evanescence." The album marked a departure from some of their earlier gothic influences in favor of a more straightforward rock sound.

Since then, Evanescence has continued to tour extensively while working on new material. In recent years they have collaborated with orchestras across Europe for special performances featuring reimagined versions of their classic songs.

Throughout their career, Evanescence has been recognized for their unique sound and captivating live shows. They have won multiple awards including two Grammy Awards for Best Hard Rock Performance ("Bring Me to Life") and Best New Artist. With over 25 million records sold worldwide, they are considered one of the most successful rock bands of the past two decades.

In conclusion, Evanescence remains an important fixture in American rock music history thanks to Amy Lee's haunting vocals coupled with her adeptness at piano playing which gave birth to an atmospheric sound admired by many fans around the world who continue follow her career every step of way while she experiments with new styles while staying true what made her famous - her unique voice that can evoke both sadness as well as joy all at once.
